How can you get rid of ants chemical free?

I have a 1 1/2 year old running around, so I don’t want to use spray or anything. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Baking Soda , or baby powder

you just have to be careful what you leave out.you can’t get rid of them any other way without spraying so don’t leave any food out were they can get too it.keep everything clean i have the same problem but i spray them with a cleaner i have and wipe them up with a paper towel.you can always spray them with water and wipe them up with a paper towel.

It depends on where they are?

without using pesticides the only way I know that actually kills them.. is the wal mart brand bathroom cleaner.. when you spray them with that.. it kills them instantly.. and you just wipe them up..

Yes, i had little ants appear yesterday, so this is what i have done other years that works and i’m going to do today:

    1. Empty my kitchen pantry completely and wash down the shelves and look for ant activity on boxes and jars. Usually i have trouble with ants that like sugar and sweet things, but some ants like oils instead and some are just looking for water. Anyway, i’ll wash down the cupboard and remove all the sweet items.

    2. Anything the ants like i will either 1) double bag so they can’t get at it (like raisins), 2) put in a different part of the kitchen where i don’t get ant activity (in my kitchen they don’t appear over the stove, so i can leave honey there), 3) sugar bowls and honey jars i sometimes put in a "moat"… hahaha… i’ll pour water into a dessert bowl or saucer, and put the sugar bowl on it. The ants don’t cross the water, so the sugar is safe and i can leave it out and just refill the water ever couple of days.

    3. Generally the ants will disappear if you remove their food source, but i usually also try to look for where they are entering the house. Sometimes there is a crack in a windowsill or a door or the floor that needs recaulking. After looking for where they come in and caulking, i wash down all the counters and the floor with soapy water. This erases their chemical trail that is bringing the ants to the food source. Washing surfaces immediately after preparing food will also help cut down the number of ants you see.
