Hi Everyone, I work in a pet shop, and each month I get a free bag of either Wellness or Natural Balance dog food. I was wondering which brand you think is better quality for my Dachshund/Beagle mix. And if you could please tell me which flavor/type is the best of either brand. Thank You!!

Our breeder sent our Dachshund puppy home to us with a bag of Eukanuba puppy food. Our vet and puppy trainer both commented it was the best. We have recently changed to the Eukanuba Dachshund food since he is 9 months old now.

That is good enough for me.

Are they really that different from each other? I mean, they are dog food… Does it really matter?

What are the advantages of feeding your dog/puppy Innova, Wellness, Merrick, California Natural, etc?

Do dogs really get sick from low quality food like Iams, Eukanuba, RC, etc?

Any real experiences with those food?

I asked this because so many people on here dislike the low quality brands I mentioned.

Most recommend Innova, Wellness, etc…
I personally wouldn’t feed my puppy Iams. The second ingredient is corn meal. No way. Then chicken BY-PRODUCT meal?!!! Yikes! It also contains beet pulp.

I would not feed my puppy such brand that contains too many by-products and fillers.

I’m sorry.

Yes they really are that different. Foods such as Wellness have more meat protein that dogs need and don’t contain cheap fillers like corn, wheat, soy and they don’t contain by products.
Dogs need meat they don’t need grains.

The bag says the cheap foods have nutritional value, but what people don’t understand is it only means that it is enough to keep a dog alive, for it survive it doesn’t mean that the nutritional content is correct for a dog.
