Is there a chemical free way to get rid of hornets?

Every year I get hornets building nests on the over hangs of my roof. I’m all for fauna and flora in my yard, but I don’t want them to get in my house and I don’t want them to sting my dog or cat who roam my (fenced) yard during the warmer months. Knocking the nest down doesn’t seem to work. It is my third summer in the house and they come back every year. Maybe they already live in my roof? I guess I have some sympathy for them as I don’t want to douse them with chemicals but if I have to then I will. Any info is appreciated…I just caught a little bugger starting his nest right by my door today!

Spray the area on a regualr basis with a garden hose , flush em out, and soak their nests. They are made of paper and can easily be destroyed before it becomes a problem. Wait until dusk, hornets become more dormant once the sun goes down for the day.

How do I get the smell of Nathan’s (hot dogs) out of my husband’s jacket? (chemical free)?

My husband slipped off his organic diet and slummed at Nathan’s. Now his jacket smells. Please tell me a good, chemical-free, all-natural way to freshen it quickly.
….I don’t want to put it in the washing machine or immerse it in water.

You hang it outside in the sun, weather permitting.

Alternatively, depending on your definition of natural, you could use a commercial spray product like Febreze. They work by using a form of sugar to trap the molecules that make up odors.

What is a chemical free laundry detergent for babies?

None of these are chemical free. Thanks for the responses though. I worry about these chemicals seeping into my newborns skin. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about organics. I mean its no wonder cancer is rampant.

There are a couple of detergents out there for babies…

Ivory Snow, Baby All, Dreft, you can also use "Free" detergents free of dyes and scents as well.

I usually use Ivory Snow for my baby’s clothes it’s cheap as well and it works on the stains and it’s doesn’t irrate her skin.

Restore your rugs

If your rugs or carpets are looking worn and dingy from too much foot traffic or an excess of kids’ building blocks, toy trucks, and such, bring them back to life by brushing them with a clean push broom dipped in a solution of 1 cup white vinegar in 1 gallon (3.7 liters) water. Your faded threads will perk up, and you don’t even need to rinse off the solution.

Remove carpet stains

You can lift out many stains from your carpet with vinegar:
Rub light carpet stains with a mixture of 2 tablespoons salt dissolved in 1/2 cup white vinegar. Let the solution dry, then vacuum.

For larger or darker stains, add 2 tablespoons borax to the mixture and use in the same way.

For tough, ground-in dirt and other stains, make a paste of 1 tablespoon vinegar with 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and rub it into the stain using a dry cloth. Let it set for two days, then vacuum.

To make spray-on spot and stain remover, fill a spray bottle with 5 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Fill a second spray bottle with 1 part nonsudsy ammonia and 5 parts water. Saturate a stain with the vinegar solution. Let it settle for a few minutes, then blot thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth. Then spray and blot using the ammonia solution. Repeat until the stain is gone.

Carpet and stain remover use a trigger sprayer bottle and fill it with one part White Vinegar to seven parts water then take a second sprayer and fill it with one part non sudsy ammonia to seven parts water Saturate the stain with the mixture of vinegar and water and let sit for a few minutes and then blot thoroughly with a clean white cloth, then go over the area with the ammonia solution and let it sit for about five minutes then blot again Repeat until stain is gone

Good Luck !
