Where can I find chemical free dishwashing liquids in Mumbai, India?

I am looking for natural products that don’t use harmful chemicals in their washing liquids. I am basically looking to replace my current dish washing soap/liquid.

Make your own –

* Boil up some Caustic & Lard (magic of saponifiction) & wallah you have soap (& a little Glycerine which is good for your hands).
* Check the pH of the finished product before use (add diluted citric acid to adjust – neutral pH 7).

Cheap as chips & environmentally friendly!!

What’s the best chemical-free way to prevent weed growth in the cracks of my sidewalk?

I’ve heard a solution vinegar and salt works. Any truth to this?

Try the horticultural vinegar available through your local gardening center. It’s 10 percent vingar versus the cooking kind which is only about 2 or 3 percent. (Just remember it’s like a poison, so DON’T use it to cook with) Works like a charm every time! Plus, vinegar doesn’t trans-locate (move through the dirt when it rains), so you don’t have to worry about it harming any grass or plants nearby.

What is the best chemical free way of getting rid of dandelions?

I am constantly removing dandelions from my yard with a small weeding shovel. The very next day, I see another 20 – 50 dandelions on the lawn. What has worked for you to remove these pesky buggers without pesticides?

Get yourself the right tool for the job. I have an implement that looks like a trowel but is only 2 inches wide. It slides down the side of the root and lifts the weed out with minimal disturbance. Water the weed thoroughly about 10 minutes before you do this.

I pick my dandelions if i don’thave time to dig them out. At least they won’t seed everywhere so it saves time later on.

Is there a chemical free way to get rid of hornets?

Every year I get hornets building nests on the over hangs of my roof. I’m all for fauna and flora in my yard, but I don’t want them to get in my house and I don’t want them to sting my dog or cat who roam my (fenced) yard during the warmer months. Knocking the nest down doesn’t seem to work. It is my third summer in the house and they come back every year. Maybe they already live in my roof? I guess I have some sympathy for them as I don’t want to douse them with chemicals but if I have to then I will. Any info is appreciated…I just caught a little bugger starting his nest right by my door today!

Spray the area on a regualr basis with a garden hose , flush em out, and soak their nests. They are made of paper and can easily be destroyed before it becomes a problem. Wait until dusk, hornets become more dormant once the sun goes down for the day.
