What type of higher education is needed to pursue a career in Alternative medicine?

I live in dallas tx and i just graduated high school. I want to pursue a career in alternative medicine such as herbology and such, but i don’t know where to start. if anyone lives in dallas and knows a great way in which to begin my studies or just knows, your feedback is greatly appreciated. In college, what type of major would Alternative medicine fall under? is only universities or community colleges too, or is there a special alt. med. college. thanx everyone!

it depends what kind of alternative medicine u want to get into. There is acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, etc.? Do a search on google and find schools near your area, but the important thing is to find out what you want to do first.

i am a biology and pre med major. i will actually be doing regular medicine but i thought i might be able to help you with your questions. you should check out both community colleges and universities in your area. you might be offered the same ideas from both colleges. however i always recommend a university for the medical field. you would major in biology if going to a university and then talk to an advisor (when you call to talk about programs) to see if any other majors might also interest you and the career. i hope this could help. just look around, talk to colleges, it will help. best of luck!

I think normal medical school would be good. I do believe they have a few courses on alternative medicine.
