title says it all, it will be ’supremem science rabbit food’ but i have 4 guinea pigs, would it be suitable for them, or if i mied it with their guinea pig nuggets would it be ok, i have no friends who own rabbits, only guinea pigs and hamsters. please help, otherwise i am going to be lumbered with a years supply of rabbit food!

If it is an 18% protein rabbit pellet and if you provide daily vitamin C, you can feed it to them. Most breeders who use rabbit pellets because they cannot buy fresh guinea pig chow put the vitamin C in the water. That usually works but you must change the water daily since vitamin C once dissolved looses its potency quickly. You also need to be sure your pigs keep up their water consumption. If they are not drinking at a normal level within a day or 2 of the switch to C, you will need to give the C by drops in the mouth.

When you change the chow over, start with about a 50/50 mix of the gp and rabbit chow and keep adding rabbit until the switch is complete.

Actually rabbit and guinea pig’s diets are very similar. Both species have more less the same nutritional requirements. It’lll be a good idea to add some of those guinea pig’s nuggets to the rabbit food. Also I recommend to add some green vegetables to your guinea pigs diet, this is a species that, as well as humans, can’t create vitamin C through the bacteria in their intestines, so it needs if from the diet. Green vegetables such as alfalfa is a great natural source of vitamin C. Good luck.

Shouldn’t be a problem. Contents are pretty similar (as others have pointed out). We feed our guinea pigs rabbit food mix plus lots of fresh veggies and they’ve always been very healthy.

Rabbit pellets has harmful chemicals in it that only a rabbit can digest. DO NOT FEED TO A GUINEA PIG!!!
