What is better for long term food storage mylar bags and oxygen absorbers, or mylar bags and dry ice?

Which one is better? For such things as rice, beans, wheat, lentils, barley, flour, sugar, that sort of thing.

Wow. You really know your stuff. I have been trying for over a month to figure out how to do this. You are the first person who could simply and briefly explain it.

asked in the wrong section, but I use mylar bag AND dry ice sealed in plastic buckets with Gamma seal lids. Place the bag in the bucket, place a chunk of dry ice on the bottom and cut a piece of brown paper bag in a rough circle large enough to completely cover the ice so it cannot contact the product being stored directly, then pour in the product loosely close the mylar bag (but don’t seal it yet) and just lay the gamma lid on the bucket, again, do not let it seal. As the dry ice melts it converts back to CO2 gas which fills the bag/bucket and pushes all the oxygen up and out. do not move the bucket or lift the lid while this occurs (roughly 45 minutes to one hour). Then gently remove the lid and close the mylar bag, then screw the lid on tight. this will keep the product safe and fresh. Once you open the bucket to start using the product, then toss in the O2 absorber.

which walmarts can I buy harvest of the west food storage items?

I know some stores in AZ and UT carry food storage #10 cans and 55 gal water drums, but which stores elsewhere in the US carry the food storage items?
it is not listed on their online store at all. I have seen pictures and know it in the stores, but they do not advertise it. That’s why I wanted to know if anyone else has seen it in a store near them.

Click on Walmart.com and use their search box …. If they have it listed you cantry for store locations that have in stock… or they may have it for online sales w/free ship to store

How would you control cockroaches in the kitchen and food storage areas?

What would be the 4 ways of controlling cockroaches?

I am really scared of cockroaches :-)

Thank you !!!

It’s best to use Boric Acid & Powered Sugar
Mix it together, put around places that have
water, like Kitchen, Bathroom & Basement
They eat the Boric Acid & it eats them, also
They take it back to the nest & DIE, and the
other Roaches EAT Them – try it, it works

What is the proper cold food storage temperature ?

My ‘normal’ fridge temp is 40, what is the best energy saving temp that will still preserve leftovers

Actually it’s 45 deg F. That’s the standard by wich most all refrigerated goods’ shelf time is measured. 38 to 40 works much better though and makes a negligable difference in energy consumption.
