I have found this to be true both when hand washing and using the dishwasher/w the heated dry setting. I’m sure that there is a scientific explanation and that is what I’m after.
Air drying involves the transfer of heat into the water droplets so that the water molecules have enough energy to escape the droplet ie evaporate. Usually glass is thicker than plastic and would store more energy that could be used for the heat transfer and the evaporation of the water. Also glass may transfer heat faster than the plastic. This would make a very nice science fair project for school.

Why do plastics such as food storage containers take far longer to air dry than other materials like glass?
Can food storage bags be recycled with other plastic grogery bags?
The grocery stores in my area accept plastic shopping bags for recycling, and I am wondering if I can add other types of (clean!) thin plastic (such as Ziploc bags, sandwich baggies, shrink-wrap packaging, etc.) for recycling as well.
Most liikely – but that doesn’t mean they get recycled. We investigated in our area regarding the stores that take bags back for recycling – it appears to be mainly a PR gimmick. NO ONE could tell us what happens to the bags – and the local plants that actually DO recycling, say they have no use for plastic grocery bags.
I believe that the bags that are gathered by stores are "recycled" directly to a landfill.

I do it all the time and it is also good for our environment — recycling you know.
Waste not, want not. As the saying goes.
Is it safe to re-use plastic food storage bags that have contained meat products?
If so what is the safest way to clean them?
I’ve washed and dryed then really well and used them for non food items.
